Antique Tesuque Pueblo Indian Rain God Pottery Effigy with Whirling Log on Head

Antique Tesuque Pueblo Indian Rain God Pottery Effigy with Whirling Log on His Head, Tesuque, New Mexico. This Native American made pottery Rain God is in good antique condition, with some flaking on the end of his nose, the eyes, the left side of his chest, the top rim of the bowl he's holding. There's some crackling in clay, but no actual cracks.

It has the appropriate amount of wear for a vintage Rain God. I have had this in my personal collector for over 30 years.

This piece of Tesuque Pueblo pottery measures 5 1/2" high, 2 5/8" wide & 3 deep. It has a nice patina on the cream colored slip. The Rain God has an open mouth, slit eyes & nostrils. He's holding a bowl. It's decorated with terra cotta & yellow designs that are outlined on black.

He has a large Whirling Log, Good Luck pattern on the top of his head. It's an unusual Tesuque Rain God & will make a special addition to any Native American pottery collection.
