This piece is a very large and beautifully shaped pot, all hand coiled by the artist. Florence and her sister Rachael were known for their beautiful water jars and created many of them during the height of their careers. The size of this pot is approximately 10" high and 13" in diameter.
Pueblo pottery is not created on a wheel, but rather a labor intensive method which involves hand coiling, smoothing and polishing. The work begins with gathering and "processing" the Native clay from the area around the pueblo.
