Handmade pot is 10 1/4 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches in diameter it's in excellent shape no chips cracks or problems with the paint. This was the featured pot at the palms in Albuquerque in 2003 and they named it Pueblo life.
The pot has a mother and her daughters hanging up clothes at the pueblo really nice art work. Lois Gutierrez is one of the best known potters from the Santa Clara pueblo. Lois learned pottery making from her mother Petra Montoya Gutierrez.
Her work revises but reinterprets poly chrome decoration, which has almost disappeared at Santa Clara. Lois does the potting and painting of the pot, her husband Derek helps with the firing which is always done outdoors. In 1982 Lois and Derek won the BEST OF SHOW at the Santa Fe Indian Market. The 4 marks around the rim symbolizes the 4 cardinal direction or the 4 sacred mountains.
