Lansing was born in Cortez, CO, in 1966, the youngest of 11 children. His mother, Helen Benally Lansing, was a noted weaver of Navajo rugs while his father, Dan Lansing, was a noted Navajo Medicine Man. Lansing's pottery, which is very labor intensive, features etchings of animals combined with Native American designs. This piece, which measures 4 1/2 wide by 2 inches tall, includes etchings of feathers as well as a bird.It is signed and dated (2003) on the bottom - see photos. Lansing is included in the book Enduring Traditions: The Arts of the Navajo. This piece was bought by my father in the early 2000s. He lived and traveled in the Southwest and collected Native American pottery. It will be carefully packed and double boxed.
