Proudly presented today is this incredible Hopi polychrome vase with classic Sikyatki Revival decorations, very much in the fashion made famous by the original Nampeyo. In perfect condition, it measures 4 inches in diameter and 5 inches tall.
It was created in 2006 by Gloria Mahle, certainly one of the most accomplished of the modern Hopi potters. Her career has spanned 4 decades, from 1980 to the present, and she has won multiple awards at the Museum of Northern Arizona's Hopi Show. Her work has been collected by both the Heard Museum and the Museum of Northern Arizona.
As a true Hopi artist, her work is meticulously traditional. The subtle, beautiful fire clouds produced by firing pottery in sheep dung kilns has been raised to an artform in her work. Giving her work a vibrant, living beauty. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a piece of such.
