Hand coiled, painted and signed by Acoma artist Terrance M. Was born into the Acoma Pueblo in 1965. He learned his artistry from his late mother, Evelyn L. Chino who taught him the traditional methods of sculpting and painting Acoma Pottery.
Terrance hand mixes his clay then begins the hand coiling process. During the coiling process, he prays and chants to bless the pottery. While the pottery is drying, Terrance hand boils his own paints from plants for his pieces. When applying the traditional style designs on his pots, Terrance uses the stem of a Yucca Plant that he designs into a brush.His methods and unique artistry make his work one of a kind.
