Jemez Pueblo Pottery Artist: Laura Gachupin Dimensions: 11'' wide x 9'' tall This stunning Melon vase was hand coiled and polished by very well known and very talented artist, Laura Gachupin. The intricacies of making a straight melon vase, like this one are both fascinating and beautiful. Each of the melon "ribs" is individually polished with a flat stone found in river beds near the pueblo. Each rib is made with the same width so that the piece remains symmetrical as you look at it from any angle. The vase is slipped in a light buff color and is both simple and elegant in design. The piece is signed on the bottom as shown. This piece was previously owned and is in excellent condition with no cracks, pits, chips or repairs.
