Indian Art Ladies is back! Robert Tenorio is credited with the revival of Santo Domingo pottery. He learned to make heishi jewelry with his parents when he was young, but found his true artistic calling when he attended IAIA and learned to make pottery.
He uses clay dug from his pueblo, processes it by hand over several days, then hand-coils his pots as his ancestors did. He uses only natural pigments to paint the traditional designs, in this case, the four different butterflies. The pots are then fired outdoors.
