North Dakota School of Mines Pottery Bentonite Native American Vase (Mattson). Decorative University of North Dakota School of Mines Pottery bentonite vase with a Native American design. There are a couple of tiny glaze rubs to the inner rim and one to the interior.

Bottom stamped with UND ink stamp, 2249 and cipher for Julia Mattson, Vase is 2 3/4" tall and 4 1/2" wide. Bentonite and the process for applying to vases can be found on pages 54 though 58 in the book University of North Dakota Pottery a history and comparative study by Ken Forster.
