Garcia was a recognized and influential potter from Acoma Pueblo, and known for reviving the Anasazi and Tularosa designs on contemporary Acoma pottery, along with artists Lucy Lewis and Marie Z. Both her grandmother and mother were from Laguna Pueblo; however she is known as being from Acoma which is where she lived and potted.
