Some potters go through life in the shadow of the better-publicized, but lately Freida has begun to receive some recognition. We recently saw an 11 diameter black-on-red shallow bowl from about this same period with a hefty four-figure price tat. She was active from the 1950s on and, although she doesn't get much mention, her daughter Colleen rates a long entry in Gregory Schaaf's 1998 Hopi-Tewa Pottery.
It is beautifully made and painted, polished as caefully on the inside as it is on the outside.
