This is a very nice piece of red ware pottery. It is 5" tall And 4" in diameter. Stella Chavarria was born in 1939 and began her career as an artisan in 1955. She is the daughter of potter Teresita Naranjo, who passed away in 1999.She makes a somewhat smaller scaled pottery than her mother did. Hand coiled and sharply incised pots reflect Chavarria's years of dedication and experience. Her favorite design is Avanyu.
Her creations are included in every major book published and is exhibited in major exhibitions going back yo the 1970's. She has works on exhibit in the Heard Museum and other major collections. She has won numerous awards for her work at the Santa Fe Indian Market.
