Acoma Four Color polychrome Antique Native American Pot
Unusually large, antique, Acoma Pueblo pot. The pot has Four Color polychrome Parrots. The pot is 12 inches tall and about 14 inches in diameter. No chips, cracks or repairs. This pot is very striking in part because of the parrot bird design, the four polychrome colors and also for its size. Parrot designs such as these developed in the 19th century and are still in use by today's modern pueblo pottery artists. The bird was often portrayed, as in this example, sitting on a branch and eating berries. The parrots are framed with a rainbow arching across the top of each side. It has a concave base and each parrot has a diamond on its breast and a D-shaped design at the base of the tail. This is an exceptionally fine example of an Acoma Pueblo polychrome Olla of this style and probably dates from 1890 to 1910.

It was formed using native clay. The parrot design is the most sought after in Acoma pottery. It is the style that many serious collectors seek for an advanced Pueblo pottery collection. The item "Acoma Four Color polychrome Antique Native American Pot" is in sale since Saturday, April 4, 2020.
