Anasazi Native American Puebloan Bowl Chip to Edge Black on Gray With Figurals
As most of you know the technique on this was the coil made traditional method with firing done in an oven. The wonderful figures on the piece appear to be a stylized bird, perhaps a yei, and a buffalo as well as some geometric shapes and a couple of wat appears to be plus marks or crosses.
There are some numbers on the bottom which probably indicates that this item was in a collection. There appears to be a name also. The writing is on the surface and not incised. As our description indicates, there is a chip to the rim. There has been no restoration done to this bowl.
Chips are not significant in an item of this age. Collectors will know this and are aware that even shards of this pottery are significant finds.
