Antique Acoma Native American Pueblo Pottery Olla Polychrome with Zuni Influence
Antique Acoma Native American Pueblo Pottery Olla Polychrome Geometric with strong Zuni influence. Approximately 8" high, 9 1/4" wide, 4 7/8 wide at mouth; concave base. Minor spalling, paint loss per photos, no cracks or chips, no known history of repair. Slightly asymmetrical with one side/shoulder higher than the other by approx. Design is an interesting fusion of both Zuni and Acoma features: Strong geometrics with in-filled hachure lines and mid-body "rosettes" derived from the Zuni tradition.
These are matched with Acoma "propellers" and checkerboard banding, showing a marriage of two traditions from both pueblos in one pot. The white slip is burnished, not rag wiped.
