ANTIQUE Historic Tesuque pottery jar PUEBLO INDIAN NATIVE AMERICAN 19th C

Beautiful Tesuque pottery water jar, or olla, measures 9" tall, 10.75" diameter. The base is indented as typical of water jars for carrying on top of the head. The jar is separated in the main body into 5 repeating floral designs, each separated with stepped corners.

The neck has a repeated leaf design. There is a thin dark red band under the main body design characteristic of jars made prior to 1920. I feel that this is a late 19th century jar. The under body has a wonderful rich brown/gold polished slip.
