Antique Native American Indian Pottery Bowl / Tesuque Pueblo / Provenance 1915

Antique Native American Indian Pottery Bowl. Tesuque Pueblo Provenance Letter Included Excellent Condition. Beautiful antique Native American Indian pottery bowl with polychrome geometric designs from the Tesuque Pueblo of New Mexico.

Coiled, hand-formed, hand-painted and fired terracotta. This small dough bowl is from the Tesuque Pueblo, just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The form of the bowl is beautiful with a slightly everted rim, indented neck, and rounded body. The bottom is flat and the piece sits nicely on a table or shelf. The painted exterior designs of triangles and concentric lines contrasts nicely with the alternating black and red-orange triangles on the interior rim. There is a slightly darker line of reddish-brown color on the outside, which is a common trait of older Tesuque and some other Pueblo pottery. Included with the bowl is a typed birthday letter, dated 1980, from the original owner to his Grandson. The letter states that the Grandfather and his wife visited the Santa Fe and the Tesuque Pueblo in 1915 by rail, on his way to both the San Francisco and San Diego World's Fairs in California. Sixty-five years years later he handed it down as a present. SIZE: Diameter - 8.25" (21 cm) / Height - 4.5" (11.5 cm). Weight - 2 lbs, 1 oz. CONDITION: Excellent condition, as shown in the photos and with the following noted: No damage or restoration noted. This bowl was very well taken care of over the years and is very much like it was when bought at the Tesuque Pueblo in 1915. This piece will be a quality addition to any collection of Native American Art and will display beautifully in any Western, Santa Fe - Taos Style, Tribal, Southwest, or Arts and Crafts decor.
