Antique Zia Pueblo Pottery Donkey Native American Indian

This donkey was made at the very beginning of the 1900's or late 1800's. He is unique and unusual.

The donkey was made by a Zia Native American in the old hand-made way of traditional pottery - fired in an open pit firing process after being decorated with different colored clay slips. He stands 4 1/2" H and is 6" L. The tip of his tail is broken off. The designs on his body are beautiful (see photos).

The donkey has great personality and is in quite good condition considering his age. This is a great artifact for a collection. The old Zia pottery is special - gorgeous intricate designs with a presence that commands respect. Beautiful piece for a collection with rich cultural Zia history and skilled traditional artistry.
