Dorothy Trujillo Cochiti Pueblo Storyteller Native American 4 Children Figurine, NM. Beautiful one of the earliest Cochiti Pueblo Storyteller figure by Dorothy Trujillo.

There are 4 children, one is holding a football and another one is holding a drum. Signed on the bottom: D.

Size approx: 3.75" tall x 3" x 4. The polychrome figurine (an older pottery) is in excellent condition. No chips or cracks, but paint is showing signs of wear, especially on top of the head of the figure.

Dorothy Loretto Trujillo (1032 - 1999) made Cochiti-style pottery, although she wasn't born there. She learned pottery from her grandmother and making figures already at the age of 10.

She married Onofire Trujillo and moved to Cochiti Pueblo and earned. Permission to use Cochiti clay and Cochiti style pottery. Dorothy began making Storytellers before 1970. Her Storytellers may have only one or over 40 babies.

One of her Storytellers is on exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution. Museum of Natural History, Washington, D. NOTE: Please refer to photos for more detailed condition they are part of the description. Please remember this is a vintage or used item and will show some signs of use or wear.
