This is a Rare & Fantastic Estate Fresh pair of old Candle Holders from a longtime collector of Southwest & Native American Pottery Art & Jewelry out of Los Alamos. This woman's husband worked at the labs and was part of the group that worked on the Atomic Bomb. He was busy, so she collected what she liked. This lot is for a FINE SANTA CLARA NATIVE AMERICAN POLISHED BLACK POTTERY WEDDING VASE made by well known PATRICK & MARGARET GUTIERREZ ca 1980's. The Vase is in pristine condition as described above.

It stands about 5.5" high and is 4.25" across with a base of approx 2.75 in diam. It is signed on the bottom Patrick & Margaret Gutierrez Santa Clara Pueblo. Margaret is well known and listed for her Black Pottery and Patrick and her are also highly sought by collectors.

They have also become well known for their polished pottery animals. Born in 1934 in San Ildefonso Ms. Gutierrez is the daughter of the famous husband and wife team Tonita and Juan Roybal. Her mother passed away when Margaret was only 10. Margaret moved to Santa Clara in 1957 when she married her husband Patrick Gutierrez. Margaret has won several awards for her fine work including First & Second place at the Santa Fe Indian Market.
