FLYING ZIA BIRD Zia Pueblo Native American Clay Pottery BUTTON, 1940s, LARGE
Vintage clothing button was produced in the mid 20th century -- possibly the 1940s. The button is made of a slightly domed, red clay disc, that features a lovely hand-painted design depicting a flying ZIA BIRD -- this one has a black body with orange feathers. The piece was produced by Zia Pueblo Native Americans, in the southwestern United States -- likely in the area of New Mexico. There is a two-hole sew-through shank at the center. Please refer to the ruler pictured in the image for the exact button size.

The button may have some light surface wear -- but there are no cracks, large chips, or other serious flaws. It is in very nice shape and it will display beautifully.

See attached photos for more detail on the condition. My mom -- Nancy Moran -- was a longtime member of the National Button Society, plus was active in several local button clubs in New York. So please use the attached images to form your own opinions. Please contact me if you have specific questions, and I will answer them as best I can.
