On offer is this splendid, original 1969 vase by important Native-American/Acoma Pueblo potter, Lucy M. Vase is fresh to the market from a Maryland estate just outside Washington D.

And was originally commissioned by the American Indian Art Hall of Fame museum in Peninsula, Ohio in 1969. Hence, in its nearly half a century it has only been offered to the public once until now. Vase measures 9.75 inches tall and 9.25 inches across at its widest point. That is a massive size for the artist, the largest that I have been able to research anywhere.

She obviously took the honor of making it for a museum very seriously. Vase has one small area of paint loss which is less than 0.5 inches across, as well as some tiny round chips/imperfections which are common in her pieces and part of the firing process (see photos). There is a little paint loss at the rim, but condition is otherwise superb. It does appear to be a vintage 1960s-1970s bespoke box, although having never seen an original box of hers I can not confirm this. Vase is numbered "101" at the bottom, as well as on the box. I believe it likely that this is an accession number from the American Indian Art Hall of Fame. Not available for sale to non-US buyers.
