Hand coiled and hand painted with traditional Jemez Pueblo designs. Signed on bottom by artist. Originally called "singing mother, " a Storyteller is a clay figurine made by the Pueblo Tribes of New Mexico. A Storyteller sculpture is of any human or animal figure covered with smaller children or animals. Storytellers are one of the most collectible and sought after forms of Native American clay art. Size: 5" long, 7 3/4" tall, 4 1/2 wide.

Emily Fragua-Tsosie, born in Jemez Pueblo in 1951, was inspired by her mother and grandmother to learn the art of working with clay.
