Pot is hand painted with a Spirit Bear design on top and beautiful Acoma design all around. Signed by artist on bottom. Westly Begay is a Navajo potter who was taught the Acoma style of pottery by Acoma potter Mary Francis Vallo. He combines Navajo and Acoma traditions to create his own unique style. Native American Seed Pots were traditionally used to store and protect seeds from rodents and insects, this is why Seed Pots are created with only a tiny hole at the top, allowing one seed to be dropped in at a time.
