Volume 1 of the Pueblo Pottery Portfolio. Plates in Very Good condition, portfolio cover is worn but intact. Plus fifty plates, colored by hand, on separate sheets. Text stitched and plates unbound as issued, contained within original publisher's cloth portfolio, upper cover with mounted plate and remnant ties. The cover is worn, but intact and in similar condition to all available copies I have seen.

Most of the original tissue guards are intact. Titles and first pages of introductions printed in red and black, half- titles, parallel text in English and French.

Limited edition of 750 copies signed by the publisher. A rare part set of Chapman's survey of Pueblo Indian pottery, focusing on the Indian Arts Fund collection in Santa Fe.

This work is much scarcer than the same publisher's portfolio of Sioux Indian paintings which was issued several years later. The text gives a general introduction to the ceramic art of the Pueblo Indians of the southwestern United States, then concentrates on an overview of the pottery produced in the pueblos of Taos and Picuris, San Juan, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso, Tesuque, Cochiti, Santa Domingo and Santa Ana. A very rare with plates that are clean and suitable for framing.

Ex libris from the Art Department of the Fort Worth Public Schools with corresponding markings on the portfolio cover and inside as well as on the back of each plate.
