Fort Knox Antiquities is very pleased to offer this Native American, Rare, Ancient, Sikyatki Polychrome, Spatter Picture bowl (1400 AD - 1500 AD) Sikyatki is one of the rarest types of ancient Native American pottery and very desired in the collectors market. Sikyatki is a proto-Hopi pottery with a fine clay body but often mistakenly called Anasazi.

This bowl is of the Spatter Variety and of note only half of the bowl was spattered. This technique was likely accomplished by spraying the paint from the mouth.

The interior design is done with a stylized bird with wings done as a crescent, three dots for the neck and head, beak facing right. The bird has plumage atop of its head. Bellow the wings is a downward facing arrow or atlatl spear. Complete with nock shown tied on top the shaft, feathers or different design, the arrowhead insert and the arrowhead.

The exterior has a beautifully done two color motif. This is an extremely rare type of pottery both being Sikyatki, a spatter variant and a picture bowl. The bowl was broken in half as seen in the images and glued back together.

There is no restoration or repaint. It is all 100% ancient clay.
