Santa Clara Polychrome Vase by Minnie Vigil

This beautiful polychrome vase was hand-made by Minnie Vigil of the Santa Clara Pueblo in Northern New Mexico. Vigil is the daughter of the late Petra Montoya Gutierrez. Minnie is one of a family of fine potters, her sisters. Minnie has won awards at Santa Fe Indian Market for years in recognition of their fine workmanship. She specializes in Polychrome wares.

Some of her pottery is slipped in red clay and stone polished and some is slipped in matte tan clay and not polished. Minnie Vigil has produced produced pottery for a long time.

She is recognized as one of the finest potters at Santa Clara Pueblo who is producing Polychrome wares. She typically signs her pieces "Minnie Santa Clara". This vase was made using traditional Native American methods.

It is painted with feather pattern around the neck and traditional polished designs around the base. The piece measures approximately 4 inches tall and 5 inches wide.

This vase is symmetrical and well polished and would make an outstanding focal point to any pottery collection. The piece is signed, "Minnie Santa Clara".
