YOLANDA VELARDE SANTA CLARA PUEBLO. Yolanda Velarde is a fine Santa Clara potter working in the black on black style most closely associated with San Ildefonso Pueblo. She was taught to pot by her grandmother, Flora Naranjo, and her mother, Frances Salazar. Both of these potters are now deceased.

She has two sisters who are active potters: Angela Salazar and Elaine Salazar. These ladies frequently fire together at Angela's house. Presently, Yolanda is working full time as a Head Start teacher and pots only as time permits.
