Yuma Indian Pottery Doll Figure Holding Animal, Signed
For sale is a Yuma Indian Pottery doll. Made in the 1940s this doll measures 6. Hand coiled and painted pottery depicting a figure holding a striped and spotted animal. Seldom found, this figure is in good original condition and is unusual as it is holding the animal in its arms. Missing some hair; please take a good look at pictures, these are part of the description. The figure wears a printed cloth covering and a thin band around the forehead holds the hair very stiff and course; possibly horse hair? It is signed Yuma on the bottom.

The Yuma tribe lived along the lower Colorado River. The Yuma Native American Indians consisted of various tribes: the Quechan, Cocopah, Hualapai, Mojave and some Maricopas. This figure retains much of the original color and paint.

Please take a good look at the pictures; they are to be considered part of the description - I have taken them from all angles.
